Be equipped, strengthened and inspired

Our hope is that, as we come together, we will be equipped to raise up a generation of young disciples who are eager to live out the Gospel in every part of their lives. We believe God is moving in the lives of young people across the Bristol region, and our prayer is that this conference will help churches join in with the work the Lord is doing.

Seminar Speakers

  • Bob has traveled the world, telling Bible stories, for over 30 years. He has written over 100 books, mostly for children, including The Lion Storyteller Bible, and YouVersion’s Bible App for Kids, and the brand new The Kingdom and the King Storybook Bible.

Originally from Pittsburgh, Bob lives in Wiltshire, is married to Sue and has two children and five grandchildren.

  • Jo is the Children’s Ministry Support Lead at Müllers and a member of the leadership team at Highgrove Church in Bristol. She brings many years of experience in leading children’s ministry and developing creative resources, including her work with the writing team at Raise Up Faith. With a master’s degree in early years education, Jo has a particular passion for incorporating play into children’s church sessions. A big Taskmaster fan, she also helps to run School Tasking, an outreach project that brings the joy and creativity of Taskmaster into primary schools.

  • Coming to the Y&C Conference has enhanced my enthusiasm and commitment to my involvement with our youth and children's ministry both in church and work with schools and the community.

    Y&C Conference 2024 Delegate

  • 10/10 I enjoyed EVERYTHING! The speakers were great, challenging and motivational! Throughout the whole day there was great and a sense of cohesiveness!

    Y&C Conference 2024 Delegate

  • Because of coming to the Y&C Conference I will now be more aware of how God might be using our young people to minister to others rather than just being the recipients of our work.

Seminars

  • Jo Sinton-Hewitt

This practical session explores sensory play and how it can enrich storytelling and immersive experiences for our under-5s. It’s an opportunity to get hands-on as we look at engaging our youngest church members, bringing stories and biblical truths to life through all the senses. We’ll also share ideas for keeping activities volunteer-friendly, parent-approved, and kind to church carpets!

  • Bob Hartman

This seminar will begin by exploring the reasons that storytelling “works” - the four relationships that define effective interactive storytelling. And then we will talk about specific, practical tips and techniques that bring stories alive for your audience.

  • Joy Stevens

The Quiet Revival is making headlines across the country, and we all celebrate an upturn in spiritual openness amongst Gen Z. How can we engage young people where they are at? Joy Stevens, from Start to Stir, believes it begins with learning to stir spiritual curiosity and providing clear invitations to explore Christian faith.

Join us for this interactive session that will help us to think practically about how we engage with those outside of our churches, whether they are spiritually open or seem completely indifferent towards Jesus.

  • Jane Gillis & Sharon Price

We believe that church can make a positive difference in the life of a school and it’s wider community, whatever the size of church, staff team or available resources.

Church can play an important role as they partner with schools to create safe and imaginative spaces for spiritual development.

Come along ready to actively learn together as we: listen to stories and reflect on what might work in our own contexts; look at some of the main ways of connecting that have been tried and tested in a range of settings; share top tips; and help you to think about ‘what next?’ as you journey from first steps to flourishing relationships.

  • Bob Hartman

Sometimes it is more effective to create a biblical retelling for your group than to rely on a retelling someone else has written. This seminar will show you how to take a biblical narrative and turn it into an interactive retelling that works for your group, in particular.

  • Philip Jinadu

Only 50% of children brought up in Christian families go on to own the Christian faith as adults.

Why is it that so many Christian children lose their faith, or never find it in the first place?

How can we as parents and carers give our children the best chance of gaining a lasting faith?

What are the principles for nurturing faith in our own homes and the homes of those families we support- and what are the pitfalls to avoid?

    This means every ticket will need to be allocated to a group. Therefore if you are attending as a group from a church or organisation, you can either;
    - have 1 person from each church/organisation manage a block booking
    - attend in a group, but manage booking individually (to do this, the first person to book would set up a group and then enable others to join their group with a passcode.
