August Partner Update

We believe that prayer has the power to bring about change, and as we continue the work of George Müller, we are continually reminded that 'God is faithful still and hears prayers still.' Thank you so much for your continued prayer support for us and our partners. By praying through the Partner Update, you are actively supporting the work of those sharing the Gospel and caring for the vulnerable around the world.

‘Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.’

Psalm 100:4

Read how God has been ‘faithful still and heard prayers still’ in as we have strengthened Churches around the world to care for vulnerable people in 2024/2025.

1st - 4th August: Müllers Bristol, UK

  • Müllers seeks to honour God, following in the footsteps of George Müller, by strengthening the Church to meet the needs of the vulnerable. We do this by freeing children from poverty, focusing people on Jesus, and fuelling leaders for mission and evangelism.

  • Last month we hosted the Summer Mix Event which saw over 150 young people come together to worship. It was an amazing event where many young people responded to following Jesus and the event even ran later because they wanted to keep on worshipping! In July, we said a fond farewell to this year’s theology students. Over the past year, they’ve supported, encouraged, and challenged one another as they journeyed deeper into scripture and theology. We’re so proud of how they’ve grown and all they’ve poured into this season.

    • Those who are considering applying to our free Scripture, Theology and Culture Course that the Lord would be giving them wisdom and discernment as they consider if the course is right for them.

5th - 8th August: Jubilee Society, Mongolia

  • Jubilee Society reaches out to the most vulnerable through preschools, homework clubs, youth clubs, seniors’ fellowships, and summer camps. Jubilee serves over 1,000 people aged from 3 to 80. They also run a playroom at the leukemia mother and child hospital, providing full-time staff, toys, books, furniture and maintenance at the hospital.

  • Last month Jubilee Society hosted a number of summer camps for the children where they were able to take part in lots of games and activities including playing in the shallow river nearby. Through these camps Jubilee Society can provide nutritious food for all the children. In July, 24 teenagers from Jubilee Society travelled on the bus 1,300 miles to Khuvsgul lake to attend the youth bible camp. This camp gave an opportunity for the teenagers to go deeper in their faith through their time together.

    • Give thanks that a baby boy who was malnourished and therefore couldn’t get vaccinated was able to get the formula needed to gain weight and get the vaccinations needed.

    • Pray for the Jubilee Society staff as they have their annual vacations this month. Pray that each of the seven staff will be able to rest well after the school year and the summer camps.

9th - 10th August: Africa’s Children of Purpose

  • The mission of Africa’s Children of Purpose is to demonstrate that there is a personal God who hears and answers prayer by meeting the needs of orphaned and abandoned children throughout Africa. Through compassionate care and support, ACP aim to show God’s love and provision in tangible ways, offering hope and a brighter future to those in need.

  • This month the students have a three-week break before the third and final school term begins at the end of the month. Looking ahead, in October the School for Orphans will have a graduation ceremony and students that are moving up to new schools will be taking the required examinations.

    • All the students who have exams in October, that they will be able to focus and study well.

11th - 13th August: Ruben Zaroussian, UK

  • As a Christian missionary and a Sports Pastor in the East Midlands Ruben uses Biblical preaching to proclaim the gospel message, including utilising sport based coaching activity as a means of relational engagement within and outside the Church. He also regularly goes on mission to Armenia and Argentina to encourage the Church there.

  • In June, Ruben took a trip to Armenia where he was able to share the Gospel to children and young people through a day of sports outreach. During his time in Armenia, Ruben was also able to preach at a few Sunday services, men’s gatherings, Bible study groups and youth meetings. He shared how it was a blessed time and that it was a blessing to see the children’s joyful expressions.

    • Continued protection over Ruben’s health and energy for him as he continues in his ministry.

    • Healing for Ruben’s mother who is currently unwell.

14th - 17th August: Mavuno Christian Community Development Project, Kenya

  • Mavuno Christian Community Development Project works to restore and assist orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), widows and other disadvantaged people in order for them to realise their potential and access the basic amenities for life.

  • This past month Mavuno Christian Community Development Project have continued to offer guidance and counselling classes to the children in their schools who have come from difficult backgrounds. Looking ahead, they are hoping to be able to improve their furniture, specifically the tables and chairs for students as the ones they have been using are not in good condition and there are not enough for all the current students.

    • The financial and practical provisions needed to improve the school’s furniture.

    • The Lord to continue to be at work in all the students’ lives. That through the guidance and counselling classes they would find hope and wholeness in Him.

18th - 20th August: Andrew & Kimberley Carrbine, UK

  • Andrew and Kimberley volunteer with YWAM Newcastle upon Tyne, knowing God and making God known. They focus particularly on reaching and mobilising youth and families. Their desire is to see people encounter God, be restored by Him, and released into all God has for them.

  • Over the last few months Andrew and Kimberley have seen an increase in desire of youth leaders in their city to bring youth together for fellowship, training, and mission. Over the next month Nadia, a member of their team, is looking into ways to expand prayer spaces in schools.

    • The seeds sown in the lives of young people this past academic year to bear fruit. That as regular meetings stop, the Holy Spirit would continue encouraging them.

    • The families Andrew and Kimberley support, that don’t know God to encounter His love.

21st - 23rd August: Rwanda Orphans Project

  • Rwanda Orphans Project provide the children in their care with the skills training and provisions needed towards their education as well as carrying out repairs to the homes of their guardians.

  • Many churches in Rwanda have been closed due to new government legislations. The churches that have been closed have been given instructions to make physical improvements in car parking, sound proofing and toilets as well as requiring that all church leaders need to have a degree in theology. Because of these new legislations it will be hard for the 170 Inkuru Nziza (Good News)churches a part of Rwanda Oprhans Project to continue as a high number of their church leaders didn’t complete secondary school.

    • The people in Rwanda who are no longer able to meet each Sunday.

    • Wisdom for the Rwandan government and church leaders as they navigate these changes.

24th - 27th August: The Hiding Place, Albania

  • The Hiding Place is a residential centre for children without parents care. Through their ministry they offer children shelter, protection, care and love. They also give them the opportunity to live a happy childhood and be part of a big family. During the years that they live at the Hiding Place the children hear God’s word and experience His love and care for them.

  • The Hiding Place have started daily devotional times with the younger children at the home, through this the children have learned Bible stories, prayed together, and they have seen them grow spiritually. The older children have continued their evening devotional time and several children have been attending children’s meetings at church, as well as discussion evenings twice a month. The Hiding Place shared how they are thankful for all the good things God is doing in their lives and are especially grateful that the children are open to hearing the Gospel and have begun asking more questions.

    • The children, that God would guide and protect them as they grow up.

    • The health and well-being of The Hiding Place team, that the Lord would continue to sustain them in their work.

    • God to provide both the practical and financial provision The Hiding Place need to continue their work.

28th - 31st August: Five Talents, International

  • Five Talents partners with the Anglican Church and other Christian/Civil-society organisations across eastern and central Africa with the mission to transform lives through social and economic empowerment. Through the development of community-managed Savings Groups and tailored skills-training, communities that are marginalised and living in extreme poverty become enabled to build the skills to improve their livelihoods and secure stronger, more resilient futures for themselves, their families and each other.

  • Five Talents are praising God for the recent agricultural training in Burundi, which covered climate resilience, seed banking and land stewardship. This training is a new and complementary component in the Literacy, Savings and Parenting Group programme. Community-based facilitators are now training and working with savings groups on the importance of conservation by saving and storing seeds (rather than importing/buying new seeds each season); using natural fertilisers (like manure) and composting to enrich soils; and understanding crop composition and rotation to balance soil health and promote healthy consumption. They are giving thanks that they are seeing creation care in action with fruits of improved health for the whole family and stronger, more united, and resilient communities.

    • The ongoing fuel shortage and cost of living crisis in Burundi.

    • God’s continued provision to enable Diocesan Programme Teams to reach, train and mentor community facilitators and their groups.

    • The Five Talents team as they build networks and fundraise, to look to double the number of members in partner programmes by 2027.
