“Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ. To those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious of ours: Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.” (2 Peter 1:1-2)
We can identify ourselves in many ways in today’s world, and they are usually attempts to show our status or worth. Peter challenges this by identifying himself as a bondservant—or a slave—of Jesus Christ. The faith that allows him to say this is the same as that which his recipients have, and is something precious and valuable. We too share that self-same precious faith; how might it change our self-awareness to think of ourselves as slaves of Christ? We pray, as Peter did, that grace and peace would be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.
Yours in Christ,
The Mullers Prayer Team
