“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!” (Psalm 27:13-14).
It is easy to lose heart when we look around at violence, drought, threat, sickness and death. The Psalmist knew this, but nevertheless he did not allow that knowledge to dominate his mind. David understood that the head-knowledge of what is should be subordinate to his heart-knowledge of who God is. God’s character is what set the tone for David’s outlook on life, and so may it be for us also. We do not pretend to know or understand all that you face, but we do know that the goodness of the Lord will be seen in the land of the living. May your heart be strengthened by that and by Him on whom we wait.
Yours in our Lord Jesus Christ,
