This years focus during Pray for Schools Fortnight (which runs until Sunday 18th May) is 'Rooted in Love', taken from Ephesians 3: 16, 17. These verses remind us that when we come to know the Lord Jesus our lives are changed. He begins to help us to root ourselves in His great love, a love that helps us grow in wisdom, kindness, truth and many other ways. Deeper roots in Christ's Love enable the branches of our lives and personal ministry to be stronger, and to bear good fruit.
This theme is expanded in the Newsletter that is available from the Pray for Schools website: Rooted in Love (http://www.prayforschools.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Newsletter-Spring-2014.pdf) and includes the following prayer: 'Lord Jesus, unless our lives are rooted in Your love and grounded in the truth of the gospel we will not have the strength we need to follow You. Please open our eyes to see Your love at work in our lives and in those around us. Send Your Holy Spirit to make us fruitful especially in our schools. Amen.'
We are encouraging prayer amongst the churches as we seek to see every school in the Bristol region being a 'prayed for school', that is, one registered with Pray for Schools (http://www.prayforschools.org/). There is also now a 'Pray for Schools, Bristol Region' (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1467548876791356/) Facebook group, supported by Pray for Schools England, through which we are sharing news and prayer ideas.
