“These are but the outer fringes of his works. How faint the whisper we hear of him! Who then can understand his mighty power?” (Job 26:14)
Job has been speaking about the awesomeness of God’s creation, and the sovereignty and holiness of the God who wisely governs it. He confesses though that the God who stands behind this creation is ineffable, uncontainable, glorious in his unknowable sovereignty. We hear him but faintly in creation, yet in Jesus Christ he has deigned to reveal himself to us. May we continue to humbly submit to this gracious and wise God, who has given us—who deserve so little—so much.
