NEWS FROM THE FOUNDATION
Müller House Museum
The museum archive has been very busy of late with a number of people studying some aspect of history that was affected by George Müller’s life and work. Authors researching their books also contact us and for these purposes our archive of material is invaluable and, we are happy to say, often provides more information than expected.
Some while ago we received an enquiry from a school in the USA who wanted to stitch samplers similar to those produced by the girls at Ashley Down as a class project. As we were unable to send any patterns to them they asked for photographs from which to produce their own patterns for the girls to stitch.
Jon Trueman took some beautiful photographs showing the detail of some of the designs on our samplers and the class have set these designs onto graph paper; they needed a number of sheets as you can see from the photograph, in order to reproduce the whole sampler.
The girls have already started to stitch the letters using the same type of fabric as that used at Ashley Down. The work is going to take some time of course but the class is now working hard to produce a faithful reproduction of a number of our samplers, and has asked Jon to take more photographs so they can begin the task all over again!
BI-CENTENARY
As previously mentioned at the beginning of this year’s Report, it is the bi-centennial anniversary of George Müller’s birth on Tuesday 27 September 2005. To celebrate this occasion we have decided to have an ‘Open Day’ at Müller House from 12 noon until 8pm on that day.
There will be various displays throughout the house showing the work of our Church Partnerships, TheScriptural Knowledge Institution, the Elderly Care Work and Family History Records.
Our recently refurbished museum containing photographs and artefacts from the ‘Homes’ will be open and weather permitting, you will also have the chance to enjoy our beautiful garden. Light refreshments will be available throughout the day.
We very much hope you will be able to join us on what promises to be an exciting and memorable day.
Mrs Lynette Jones resigned as a Director/Trustee during the year, having served continuously since 1991. We are all very grateful for her significant contribution to the life and progress of the work, especially, but not exclusively, in the sphere of elderly care. We have greatly appreciated her wise counsel and also her support for all the staff, in whom she has always taken a keen interest. On her retirement wewant to assure her and her husband Alan of our continued prayers for their future and our grateful thanks for all that she has done.
