Oldbury Court Church, Fishponds, BristolWe have been involved in the leadership of Oldbury Court Church for around ten years. We joined the Müller Partnership last year and are quickly realising how much we needed this support. We have both enjoyed the support of our mentors at Müller’s and the overview that we have received. It has been tough running a small group on this estate and we have on several occasions felt like giving up. Needless to say some ten years later we still believe that God wants a church here and are pushing ahead in faith.
Oldbury Court Church meets at the Vassell Centre on the Oldbury Court Estate, near Fishponds, it is home to us and numerous charities. It is an old Ministry of Defence building with separate units that different groups rent. We have one unit that has some 9 rooms of varying sizes. Our hope is to have a very open house with different groups meeting in the week to give the community support. We are hopeful to have a Parent and Toddler Group, some facilities that will attract the elderly on the estate and to see the building used fully. We are now at the beginning of a new leadership team and are really pleased that so many of our congregation want to be involved in leading the Church. We are starting to have a very visible prayer-walking scheme that will show the community that we are here and we care. It has been a difficult estate to establish any Christian work on, we have heard of many attempts to start something up and to no avail. We previously used the local school to meet and have only had our own place for the last 18 months. Please pray for us as we will for you, that God will continue to be with us and our work will be a blessing to Him and the community.
